GLEN INNES HOUSING TRUST

Glen Innes Housing Trust (Gihtrust)is a voluntary organisation and has been in operation since (2000) the turn of the millennium. NO, we are not funded by the tax payer or by the government and YES we are registered with the Charity Commission, and other required government authorities.

Gihtrust is made up of volunteers from the community, providing support for tenants and residents achieve their housing concerns. Some of our volunteers are tenants themselves, and we work in collaboration with other community agencies.

We support the tenant through the process of community resolution. We collect evidence of tenant's concerns, we make suggestions to landlords according to the RTA 1986, and we are with the tenant in consultations with landlords or other authorities.

We cannot represent the tenant in Tribunal cases, but we can accompany him/her in court if needed.

For any enquiries about our service or if you need support, please contact Peter.

Our Philosophy is based on Social Rehabilitation of individuals back to the community. That is why we are proactive in community activities such as Arts and Culture where participation create awareness of issues and social relationships among members of the community. Individuals come to realise the issues they share and are encouraged to be reponsible.

Responsible citizens naturally maintains coherence, welfare, and community wellbeing. It is the major goal for community charitable trusts...

Oh yes, our service is free thanks hugely to community funding by Lottery Grants Board and mostly to our volunteers.
