How to be a successful scapegoat
In the interests of our selfish secular world, scapegoats are critical to the survival of individuals and their social organisation. It is the most popular resolution for social, economic, and political problems. Scapegoat is executed by blaming someone else or a group in the public defense of one who is responsible for official decisions. When blame is passed on to someone else, it is usually passed down to the lowest socio denominator and rests with easy targets while the source of blame is relieved from accountability and culpability. And that makes 'blaming' a skill in the art of public discourse.
Blame is a sin and there is no suggestion in here to be a good thing. However it is a reality in our secular world that blame is unavoidable. Who in their right minds would admit to the sins of the city and banish to the edge of society is not a voluntary choice.
But the authority must find a scapegoat in their times of need and public demands for accountability. You know, like calling for someone's head!
Possible candidates for scapegoat are usually known by the blamer from his/her competitors and oppositions, and targeted individuals or groups; perhaps to settle an old score and get even! In the light of that, it seems probable to prepare an institution for supply of scapegoats in the protection of public office. And who knows, modern financial institutions may have already mastered both skills; making money and blaming scapegoats.
Anyway, just because it is written doesn't mean it is a necessary role in the life of social organisation where those in authority can get away with corrupt practice. But whether we like or not, scapegoat serves a subjective role in social, economic, and political institutions. As the caller states horses for courses, the immigrant is the most popular scapegoat towards a general election and periods of economic depression. Religion and minority ethnic groups also bruise for a fair share of hits in the raising of popular opinions for political gains. So come to think of it, who needs to spend money in training or acquiring public skills of blame and scapegoat when easy targets are available in the calling?
Families have a black sheep, neighbours have weirdos, schools have freaks, and the forest have creeps and craps... Hello, Jesus was a scapegoat!
Hurt is a safety mechanism in the protection of our persons; like hurting an arm, or hurting a feeling that make up our persons. If we don't experience hurt, we might not be aware of situations where we put ourselves in danger. But if we are selfish and ambitious, we would lose the principle in the demand to clear our name and our image. In the course to clear our name and polish our image we might be stuck in the hurt and end up destroying ourselves. Jesus said something to this effect that those who look to find themselves will lose them but those who lose themselves looking for me will find them.
Well, you know when you are blamed for something you haven't done, you get hurt and angry. You get angry because your feelings of love, respect, dignity and integrity are attacked and accused as false. It is the sabotage of what we hold and believe is true, the fundamental basis of our ID, existent. Demonising a character must surely hurt! Usually we react on the spirit of the moment and blame back or pass it on to someone else. But other times when we have managed to reason what's going on; while we don't accept the blame we do understand the position of the blamer. In some circumstances we choose to take the responsibility for a number of reasons: children stand up for their mates and sometimes lie to protect them from harm. Notice in the material subjective world, 'fear is greater than truth', but in here, fear for a friend or a relative is much greater. It means emotions are stronger than principles in the material subjective world. Even some adult friends might keep a secret to prevent a bigger harm to protect a relationship or a family. Their careers and their communities might also fall apart in the absence of a scapegoat even for an imaginary abstract or a theoretic scapegoat. Notice how blame is related to fear and fear to security, it makes sense in having a solid belief and foundation of ID.
The scapegoat is set free in the wild... And I am not making a judgment in here but if you are a person of principles, the truth will set you free. Well, here is the trouble of the conscience and guilt that would also send one spinning into nothingness. The chances are if you are not hurting you might not have a problem with conscience. But without a conscience or that modest portion of the brain that connects the mind and the heart, there is a serious concern with social relations of society. The measure of consequences is put to the test; the truth will secure the relationship in the long run if not for the sake of the individual, but fear and insecurity will only delay the inevitable. To objectify the subjective is to come clean or purify the fear and insecurity and clear the conscience. Keeping it inside will only deteriorate the material condition like stripping the material. (Removing the stable value is not doing the right thing).
Tribes and cultural practice involve a fair amount of superstitions. As a result, an individual is made a scapegoat to carry the blame for some natural occurrence he/she is not responsible for. And the gods of the subjective world are unmoved by blaming someone else, and any defense of image is futile against the manifestation of the beast. But at the same time, a tarnished image which is static in hurt and anger makes a willing scapegoat for a sacrifice offering.
Can you survive a situation where everyone thinks you are so and so? Can you live among those who never see anything right or good about you? There is self respect and dignity. There is also peer pressure to mould your character. And there are those who use the hurt and anger ploy to take advantage of you. Like strong hatred in places, the most valuable in the eyes of a parent is captured and humiliated in order to drive the hurt to reach maximum extremity. Imagine a 12 year old girl raped by adult men in order to humiliate her family, her culture, and her religion?
For some It's a game, for others it's a struggle, still others its terrorism, ignorance... but there is innocent, there is blameless and purity. The village would mourn but the shared grief will not depart unless a scapegoat is banished to the wild. You know in your rational mind an innocent goat is captured and killed to deliver the burden of blame from the village. Like a curse, if the burden is not removed the village will not be able to concentrate on progress but is stuck in static deterioration for many moons.
Where is the individual's right and freedom, right of a child, and justice? The material aspect of selfish desire requires a material representation or sacrifice to transcend the hurt and anger in order to relieve the burden of blame. The subjective material aspects of feeling are filtered, purified, and transcended from the body into the heart and mind. The ritual of sacrifice does not have to kill the goat, but the objective in practice is the guiding principle of behaviour. We change the physical behaviour and its material subjective aspect as we participate in the practice by feeling, thinking, and doing away from the past to the here and now and into the future. We let go of what we felt was our person through Jesus to find who we truly are. The rule of our emotions is carried by the scapegoat of Jesus in order to find ourselves. That is why we have to find him first...
You know, the more you are blamed, abused, accused, cursed, and attacked whatever; the more you know, understand and enlightened, but only when you are looking for Jesus first and not holding on to your material selfish person. It is pure love and innocent when children stood up for their friends, and when filtered and enlightened with rational understanding, scapegoat is a super phenomenon not for the faint hearted.
Jesus knows there is a way out of the sacrifice, but the material self has to find Jesus in order to discover the objective within. The more you are blamed, cursed, accused, etc, the more you are blessed... so bring it on!
